ORIENT, Pickaway County, Ohio — Brittany M. Stroud, 30, was arrested in Columbus on the morning of October 27. Her 17-month-old daughter was found unresponsive on October 13 at a home in Orient, in Pickaway County, and died after being taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital; an October 14 autopsy found a fatal amount of fentanyl. The incident and the case are in Pickaway County; Columbus was the place of arrest and hospitalization.
Stroud is charged with involuntary manslaughter (first-degree felony), endangering children (third-degree felony) and possession of a controlled substance (fifth-degree felony). Her case is in Circleville Municipal Court, with a first arraignment on October 28. Her mother, Tammy Stroud, 52, the child's court-appointed guardian, is charged as an accomplice with the same offenses; she surrendered on October 18 and is held on $250,000 bond. The infant's name has not been released. All charges are allegations pending trial.
