66,855 West Virginians Vote in First Four Days of Early Voting: Announced in Charleston, Kanawha County, 5.5% of Registered Voters

Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia — The Secretary of State's Office announced on October 26 that in the first four days of early voting for the 2026 general election, 66,855 voters statewide had already cast ballots, about 5.5% of registered voters. Of those, 62,366 voted in person during early voting, and another 4,489 returned absentee ballots; the returned absentee ballots account for about 54% of the 8,290 absentee ballots requested this year. West Virginia has 1,210,297 registered voters eligible to take part in the November 3 general election. Early voting began on October 21 and continues through October 31, and voters who have not yet voted still have several days and can check with their county election offices for early voting locations and hours. A 5.5% turnout in the first four days shows early voting proceeding steadily, but the great majority of voters have not yet voted, and turnout on Election Day itself will determine the final rate. As November 3 approaches, county election offices are also preparing for the close of early voting and for Election Day voting.
