Revised California Recycling Plan Submitted to CalRecycle on October 26, Incorporating More Than 2,400 Public Comments
Circular Action Alliance California submitted a revised California program plan to CalRecycle on October 26 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, California, advancing implementation of Senate Bill 54, the Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act. The revised plan incorporates more than 2,400 comments received during a 60-day public comment period, from local governments, trade associations, non-governmental organizations, tribal representatives, producers and the Packaging Producer Responsibility Advisory Board, among others. The revisions cover the environmental justice, reimbursement, materials strategy, responsible end markets, budget development and fee-setting sections, with the budget and fees chapters expanded. CalRecycle will now review the final plan and may approve it, approve it with conditions or disapprove it; the implementation milestone is January 1, 2027.
