Fayetteville Drug Dealer Donquel McEachern Sentenced to Over 17 Years for Fentanyl and Cocaine Trafficking
Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina — Donquel Caron McEachern, 36, of Fayetteville, was sentenced on October 26 to over 17 years in federal prison for selling cocaine and fentanyl throughout Cumberland County, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina announced. On June 18, 2026, McEachern pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute 400 grams of fentanyl, over one pound of cocaine, 28 grams of crack cocaine and marijuana, and to possessing those drugs with intent to distribute as well as a gun to assist his drug selling.
Law enforcement began investigating McEachern in 2023 as a major supplier of fentanyl, cocaine and other narcotics in Fayetteville; officers twice found him with cocaine and a firearm that year. Investigators determined that he and members of his organization used Airbnb rentals as trap houses to store, prepare, package and distribute drugs. On November 6, 2024, a search of one Airbnb found approximately five pounds of cocaine, two pounds of fentanyl, 53 grams of crack cocaine, five guns and body armor.
McEachern then moved to a new location and kept selling. In two more traffic stops leading up to May 2025, investigators found three guns and thousands of dollars in cash, and on May 1, 2025, searches of two additional Airbnb rentals seized more guns, fentanyl, cocaine and trafficking paraphernalia.
U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle said McEachern's drug business pumped fentanyl, cocaine and other poison into Cumberland County while menacing people with his guns, and that the sentence reflects the gravity of his actions. U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan imposed the sentence. The DEA, the Fayetteville Police Department and the Hope Mills Police Department investigated the case, which is part of Operation Gate Keeper under the Homeland Security Task Force established by Executive Order 14159. The case number is 5:25-CR-205-FL-1.
