Nevada Wolf Pack Rally Past Portland State 77-71, Closing Exhibition Slate with a Second-Half Surge
Reno, Washoe County, Nevada — On the afternoon of October 25 at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, the University of Nevada men's basketball team defeated Portland State University 77-71 in its final exhibition game. Nevada trailed 43-46 at halftime but outscored its opponent 34-25 in the second half to complete the comeback. Elijah Price led the team with 21 points and 5 rebounds; Vaughn Weems contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds, Peyton White had 7 points and 4 rebounds, and Styles Phipps finished with 5 points and 3 assists. Nevada shot 38.8 percent from the field for the game and turned it around through second-half defense and rebounding.
The game was the last on Nevada's exhibition schedule, giving the coaching staff a final look at rotations and newcomers' on-court performance before the regular season. Portland State held the upper hand for much of the first half, but its offensive efficiency fell after halftime and it could not protect the lead. Nevada now turns to regular-season preparations, with the schedule as officially announced by the university athletics department. Reno fans saw the comeback win in game reports published on October 26, adding to anticipation for the new season.
