Swedish Mining Company Announces on October 26: Uranium Grades of up to 937 ppm in Nianfors Exploration Samples
On October 26, Canadian mining company District Metals Corp. published the results of its 2026 summer field exploration programme at its wholly owned Nianfors property in Sweden's Gävleborg County. The fieldwork was aimed at following up the significant uranium-bearing radiometric anomalies identified in 2025 drone radiometric and magnetic surveys and advancing the priority areas to the drill-target stage. The exploration team recorded geological observations and handheld scintillometer radiometric measurements at 111 field stations within the property and collected 34 rock samples from boulders and outcrops for geochemical analysis. The results show uranium oxide (U3O8) contents in the samples ranging from 4 to 937 ppm and yttrium oxide contents from 7 to 667 ppm. The company said the results help further define drill targets but remain at an early exploration stage, and whether there is economically extractable value will require subsequent drilling and resource estimation to determine. Uranium exploration in Sweden has always been strictly regulated, and uranium mining involves multiple issues including the environment, radiation safety and local community acceptance; any project faces a long approval process on the way from exploration to mining. For local residents, news of exploration activity may bring expectations of jobs and investment as well as concerns about environmental impact, and open, transparent disclosure is a prerequisite for easing doubts. The company said the next phase of work will focus on further infill exploration of the anomalous areas, with progress to be disclosed in a timely manner under listed-company disclosure rules.
