动画短片评审团大奖由美国动画短片《Living With a Visionary》获得,导演为 Stephen P. Neary,制片人 Mireia Vilanova。
纪录短片评审团大奖由法国导演 Fanny Texier 的《A Woman's Place Is Everywhere》获得。
真人短片类:视野大胆提及《The Bovine Comedy》(导演 Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke)、摄影提及《A Breach Within》(导演 Jean-François Leblanc)、编剧提及《Nobody Said Anything》(导演 Tamara Todorović)、表达独特性提及《Mutrion》(导演 Marco Cavazzin)。 纪录短片类:工艺提及《Listen》(导演 Taliesin Black-Brown)、社会影响提及《Water Cooler》(导演 Emma V.F.)、叙事提及《Buckskin》(导演 Mars Verrone)、世界构建提及《A Wolf in the Suburbs》(导演 Amélie Hardy)。

40th AFI Fest Announces Grand Jury Winners: Three Shorts Qualify for Oscar Consideration
The American Film Institute (AFI) announced the winners of the 40th AFI FEST presented by Canva on October 26. The festival ran October 21-25 at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, screening 158 films, including 45 titles in the Short Film Competition. All three Grand Jury Prizes went to short films, and the winners are now eligible for consideration at the 100th Academy Awards in the Best Live Action Short, Best Documentary Short and Best Animated Short categories.
The Grand Jury Prize for Live Action Short went to Free Eliza (Notes on an Anatomical Imperfection), written and directed by Cypriot filmmaker Alexandra Matheou. The 20-minute Cyprus-France-Greece co-production, which world-premiered earlier this year in the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes, follows a young luxury-resort employee who is anatomically unable to smile and is judged "imperfect" by everyone she meets. In its statement, the jury said it was moved by the film's sensitive and ironic exploration of a microcosm of society, asking whether her flaw is a cage, or the first true step toward courageous authenticity.
The Grand Jury Prize for Animated Short went to Living With a Visionary, directed by Stephen P. Neary and produced by Mireia Vilanova. Adapted from the memoirs of poet John Matthias, a former University of Notre Dame English professor, the hand-drawn short follows John as he cares for his wife Diana, who lives with Parkinson's disease, and learns to live alongside her vivid hallucinations; actor James Cromwell stars. The film previously won the Short Film Jury Award for Animation at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
The Grand Jury Prize for Documentary Short went to A Woman's Place Is Everywhere by French director Fanny Texier. The jury praised the film's remarkable intimacy and emotional generosity, saying it makes the bonds between women — and the spaces they create for one another — deeply felt, giving grief and resilience equal room.
The juries also presented 12 Special Jury Mentions. In Live Action: Audacity of Vision to The Bovine Comedy (Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke), Cinematography to A Breach Within (Jean-François Leblanc), Screenwriting to Nobody Said Anything (Tamara Todorović) and Uniqueness of Expression to Mutrion (Marco Cavazzin). In Animation: Craft to Emulsion (Shiyu (Shino) Tang), Story to Trading Cards (Radheya Jang), Direction to The End (Niki Lindroth von Bahr) and World Building to Saba (Liron Topaz). In Documentary: Craft to Listen (Taliesin Black-Brown), Social Impact to Water Cooler (Emma V.F.), Storytelling to Buckskin (Mars Verrone) and World Building to A Wolf in the Suburbs (Amélie Hardy).
This year's juries were film programmer Mike Dougherty, filmmaker Giulia Grandinetti and film journalist Mia Lee Vicino for Live Action; documentary filmmaker Kristy Guevara-Flanagan, Palm Springs International Film Festival educational programs manager Natali Hopkins and filmmaker Nick Stachurski for Documentary; and curator Martine Joelle McDonald, stop-motion animator Kenzie Sutton and actress and producer Kelly Marie Tran for Animation. The festival closed on October 25.
