Rio Grande Sky Fiesta Wraps in Los Luceros as 25 Balloons Lift Off over Two-Day Festival
The Rio Grande Sky Fiesta wrapped up in Los Luceros, New Mexico, on October 25. At 7 a.m. on October 24, 25 hot air balloons lifted off to open the festival, which also featured paragliding performances, remote-controlled balloons, a classic car show, trick-or-treating in costume, and ghost tours. The band Northern Revolution took the Sky Tent stage at 4 p.m., and tethered balloons lit up the grounds at 6 p.m. Balloons ascended again at 7:15 a.m. on October 25 to close the event.
Organizer Eric Vasquez, executive director of the Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area, called the 250-year-old estate one of the most beautiful settings for such a gathering. Santa Fe Brewing Company and El Alamo Winery were among the participating vendors.
