芝加哥10月25日下午交响乐团收官场：华人大提琴家王健演绎德沃夏克协奏曲

Chicago Symphony's Closing Performance on the Afternoon of October 25: Chinese Cellist Jian Wang Plays the Dvořák Concerto
At 3 p.m. on October 25, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra gave the closing performance of its Sleeping Beauty & Dvořák Cello Concerto program at Symphony Center, the last of a run from October 22 to 25. Chinese cellist Jian Wang was the soloist in Dvořák's Cello Concerto, which the orchestra calls the crown jewel of the cello repertoire, with Danish conductor Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider on the podium. The program also included Nielsen's Maskarade Overture and selections from Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty, the first opening with a quicksilver Danish opera overture and the second evoking the lavish sound world of ballet's golden age. The orchestra describes Wang's tone as lustrous and his interpretations as compelling; the performance marked his return to the Chicago stage, reunited with his longtime friend and collaborator Szeps-Znaider. The Sunday afternoon slot was friendly to weekend audiences and closed the four-day run, a notable date for Chinese classical music fans in Chicago.
