Rwanda Energy Group (REG) won the FIBA Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) Zone 5 Qualifiers title for the first time, FIBA reported on October 25. REG and fellow Rwandan side APR both qualified for the 2026 WBLA finals, to be held in Cairo, Egypt, from December 11 to 20.
American guard Kayana Traylor anchored the run: she hit seven three-pointers and scored 37 points in the opener, as REG overturned a 15-point deficit with a 35-12 final quarter to beat Kenya Ports Authority 95-79, and scored 31 in a 103-57 semi-final rout of Tanzania's Fox Divas. South Sudanese international Delicia Washington added 29 points in the opener and 10 points with 11 assists in the semi-final for Cheikh Sarr's team.
