Free 'Beyond Behavior' Lecture November 14 in Pasadena: Dr. Fengyi Kuo on the Needs Behind Children's Behavior
The featured lecture 'Beyond Behavior,' presented by the Exchange Club of San Gabriel Valley, will be held on Saturday, November 14, at First Church of the Nazarene (3700 E Sierra Madre Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107) in Los Angeles County, California, delivered bilingually in English and Mandarin by U.S.-registered occupational therapist Dr. Fengyi Kuo (DHS, OTR/L, CPRP), with free admission.
According to the organizer, Dr. Kuo has more than 30 years of clinical and teaching experience and is traveling from Indiana for the talk. The lecture speaks to everyday parenting puzzles: a child who will not put down the phone, who cannot stop once started, who melts down over a small change, or who refuses simple requests. Drawing on developmental neuroscience, sensory processing, emotional regulation and executive function, she will help parents re-understand behavior and share support strategies usable in daily life. The four key topics are: understanding the needs behind behavior; supporting emotional regulation and executive function; supporting families of autistic and neurodivergent children; and building participation and belonging.
The workshop runs 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.; a one-hour small-group parent Q&A follows from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., with limited seats and advance registration required. The lecture is part of the Community Inclusion & Family Resource Fair held the same day at the same venue, co-organized by Pacific Asian Youth Development (PAYD), the Frank Lin Foundation, Space Academy Dance & Music and Gallery 4C. Registration is available through the organizer's event page.
