El Cajon Crash: Man Lying in Street Struck and Killed by Westbound Vehicle
The El Cajon Police Department reported that at about 4:43 a.m. on October 24, a man lying in the street was struck by a westbound vehicle in the 1300 block of E. Main St in El Cajon, in San Diego County, California, and later died at a hospital.
According to the department, officers responding to the call found the man lying in the street with major injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. His identity has not been released.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the department said, and preliminary findings indicated that driving under the influence was not a factor. E. Main St was closed for several hours while officers investigated the collision.
The department's Traffic Division is handling the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about it is asked to call (619) 579-3311.
