Nevada Wolf Pack Beats San Jose State 28-13 at Home on Oct. 24, Scoring 14 in the Fourth Quarter to Seal the Win
On the afternoon of Oct. 24, the University of Nevada Wolf Pack defeated the San Jose State University Spartans 28-13 at Mackay Stadium in Reno to win this Mountain West Conference matchup. The score by quarters was: Nevada 7-0 in the first, San Jose State pulling back 3 points in the second, Nevada adding 7 more in the third, and Nevada scoring 14 in the fourth while San Jose State got 10, for a final score of 28-13. Entering the game, San Jose State was 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Nevada was 2-4 and 1-2, so the visiting team was favored before kickoff, but the Wolf Pack, playing at home, prevailed thanks to a steady second-half performance. The game was played in clear weather, with a temperature of about 55 degrees Fahrenheit at kickoff and little wind, conditions well suited to football. The victory also helped Nevada halt its slide in the conference standings and build confidence for the schedule ahead, while San Jose State will need to address its defensive breakdowns in giving up consecutive scores in the fourth quarter.
