West Virginia Beats TCU 24-20 on the Road, Showing Grit
On October 24, 2026, the West Virginia Mountaineers beat the TCU Horned Frogs 24-20 on the road for a morale-boosting victory. Head coach Rich Rodriguez said after the game that the team has now played eight straight weeks and fatigue is obvious, but that such moments test a team's toughness most — and his players proved themselves in a hard-fought game.
The game was played in Fort Worth, Texas, where West Virginia withstood the hosts' comeback push, steadied itself at key moments and left with a four-point win. The victory matters for the Mountaineers: through an up-and-down season, staying focused for a full game on the road against a quality opponent showed the resilient style the coaching staff has emphasized.
Rodriguez noted that eight consecutive weeks of play test any team, and that his players, near their physical limits, still executed the game plan and trusted each other — the most commendable part of the win. With the victory, West Virginia holds a better position for the season's closing stretch and gains confidence for the games ahead.
