South Carolina Rallies to Beat Tennessee 27-24 at Home Behind Sellers
On October 24, 2026, the South Carolina Gamecocks hosted the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia and rallied for a 27-24 win. Tennessee led 21-17 at halftime.
The opening belonged to the home team: South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers scored twice in the first quarter, first hitting Mazeo Bennett with a touchdown pass and then running one in from 31 yards, building a 14-0 lead — the largest deficit Tennessee had faced all season. But Tennessee settled down, scoring twice in the second quarter behind its ground game and key passes, and with 24 seconds left in the half, Mike Matthews took a direct snap eight yards for a touchdown and the lead.
For South Carolina, Sellers threw for 132 yards and a touchdown in the first half but also threw an interception and missed an open receiver in the end zone. Defensive back Vicari Swain was ejected for targeting with 1:42 left in the half, a major concern for the Gamecocks after the break.
South Carolina had beaten No. 15 Florida in Week 6 to end an eight-game conference losing streak, and after a bye week faced another strong opponent at home. The Gamecocks completed their comeback in the second half to seal the 27-24 victory.
