UAlbany Beats Rhode Island 38-21, Ending Rams' 17-Game Home Winning Streak
On October 24, 2026, an FCS upset unfolded as the UAlbany Great Danes went on the road to beat the Rhode Island Rams 38-21, ending the Rams' 17-game home winning streak. Albany running back LaSawn Lamons had a career day, carrying 24 times for 196 yards and three touchdowns as the game's standout player.
Albany piled up 450 yards of offense, including 265 rushing yards, and converted 9 of 13 third downs, while on defense Jamari Young recorded three sacks and four tackles for loss, completely disrupting Rhode Island's rhythm.
With the win, Albany improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association, strengthening its position in the conference title race. Rhode Island fell to 4-4 and 1-3 in the league. The 17-game home streak had been one of the subdivision's most notable marks, and losing it at home is a blow to the Rams' morale. Albany next hosts Campbell on Halloween for a "Scary Saturday" home event, hoping to keep its powerful ground game rolling.
