Oklahoma Beats Mississippi State 23-15 on the Road
On October 24, 2026, the Oklahoma Sooners visited the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi, and came away with a 23-15 victory. Oklahoma led 20-7 at the end of the third quarter and held the advantage to the final whistle.
The game marked the first time Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby faced his former team as a head coach; he served as Oklahoma's offensive coordinator in 2022 and 2023. The game kicked off at 2:30 p.m. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer led a steady offense, and late in the third quarter Tate Sandell kicked his second field goal of the game to stretch the lead to 20-7; the defense then broke up a pass on fourth down for a key stop. Mississippi State scored in the third quarter on a wide-receiver pass touchdown to claw back seven points but never closed the gap further.
A major pregame storyline was the return of Oklahoma left tackle Michael Fasusi, who had been out with a right shoulder injury since the season opener; his return gave Mateer important protection. Oklahoma's offense has averaged only 311.5 yards per game this season, and Fasusi's presence steadied the line in the road win.
