Obama Campaigns in Cleveland on Oct. 24 With Gubernatorial Candidate Acton and Senate Candidate Brown
On October 24, 2026, former President Barack Obama came to Cleveland, Ohio, to campaign for Democratic candidates at a rally at Cleveland Public Auditorium, appearing alongside Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton and U.S. Senate candidate Sherrod Brown.
It was Obama's first campaign trip to Ohio since 2018, with just 10 days left before the November 3 election. Before thousands of supporters, Obama attacked Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy as an opportunist and called Republican Sen. Jon Husted a rubber stamp for the Trump administration. He also took aim at rising living costs and immigration and foreign policy, saying Democrats must fight for change for working people.
Ohio's races for governor and senator are both tight this year, with control of the U.S. Senate and the state's first Democratic governor since 2011 in the balance, making the state a key final-stretch battleground. The Acton and Brown campaigns have heated up recently over a controversial Ramaswamy ad involving Acton's mother, which even Republican Gov. Mike DeWine publicly condemned. Obama's trip was aimed at turning out the Democratic base, as both sides mobilize head-on in the final 10 days.
