18th Vermont Tech Jam Held Today in Burlington: Free Event Connects Job Seekers With State Innovators
The 18th Vermont Tech Jam will be held on Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hula technology park on the Burlington waterfront, at 50 Lakeside Avenue, with free admission. Co-hosted by Seven Days and Hula, the annual career and technology expo carries the slogan "real jobs, real people": job seekers can speak face to face with recruiters and see live openings without being filtered by robots and algorithms. Exhibiting companies span microchips, sports sensors, robotic systems, charging stations, artificial intelligence tools and electric aircraft, and include some of the state's largest and most innovative employers, such as BETA Technologies, Data Innovations, GlobalFoundries, Simmonds Precision and Hazelett. Educational institutions including the University of Vermont, Norwich University, Champlain College, Vermont State University, the Community College of Vermont and the Essex Tech Center will also exhibit and present their programs. Two featured sessions are scheduled: an 11 a.m. manufacturing careers panel, "It's Real Things," with representatives from BETA Technologies, Rigorous and Hazelett discussing their products and hiring needs, and a keynote at 1 p.m. Founded in 2008, the Tech Jam draws hundreds of job seekers, career changers, technology workers and students each year; this is Hula's sixth consecutive year hosting it.
