Miami Routs Pittsburgh 52-23 at Home as Toney Sets School Record With 16 Catches
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the top-ranked University of Miami Hurricanes beat the University of Pittsburgh Panthers 52-23 at home, in their most complete performance of the season. Miami scored 31 points in the first half to take early control.
Wide receiver Malachi Toney caught 16 passes for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns, breaking his own Miami single-game receptions record set against Pittsburgh last season and strengthening his Heisman Trophy candidacy. Quarterback Darian Mensah completed 31 of 37 passes for 387 yards and 4 touchdowns, an 84 percent completion rate. Running back Javian Mallory ran 7 times for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Mark Fletcher added a rushing touchdown.
For Pittsburgh, sophomore quarterback Holden Gulina, relieving injured starter Mason Heintschel, completed 18 passes for 268 yards and 1 touchdown, but a costly fumble before halftime ended the Panthers' hopes of a comeback. Pittsburgh has now lost three straight since Heintschel was lost for the season. Miami travels to the University of North Carolina next week as it continues its push for a playoff spot.
