Minnesota Stuns Iowa 13-10 on a Walk-Off 46-Yard Field Goal
On the afternoon of October 24, at Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, the Minnesota Golden Gophers beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 13-10 in a key Week 8 Big Ten matchup televised on FS1. Iowa came in at 5-1 and Minnesota at 4-2, both 2-1 in the conference. Minnesota led 10-3 through three quarters of a grinding game in which neither offense found its rhythm; Iowa's offense stalled repeatedly against a steady Gophers defense that forced five punts, and a late third-quarter chance gifted by a pass interference call still came to nothing for the Hawkeyes. In the fourth quarter, Iowa drove 98 yards and tied the game 10-10 on a 37-yard touchdown pass from Hank Brown to Reece Vander Zee. In the closing seconds, Minnesota quarterback Drake Lindsey hit Jalen Smith for 39 yards to the Iowa 28, and kicker Luke Drzewiecki drilled a 46-yard field goal as time expired for the walk-off win. Iowa falls to 5-2, while Minnesota improves to 5-2 (3-1 in the Big Ten).
