Hawai'i Pacific Sharks Rout Dominican 6-1 With a Goal 31 Seconds In
On the night of October 23, the Hawai'i Pacific University Sharks, in Honolulu County, Hawai'i, beat the Dominican University Penguins of California 6-1 at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium for a key PacWest win. Just 31 seconds into the match, Paul Norberg scored off an assist from Kelly Takara for a dream start; Ryder Breeden added a goal in the 41st minute and Samuel Sykes another in the 43rd, giving the Sharks a three-goal lead at halftime, with an 8-3 edge in first-half shots. The win moves Hawai'i Pacific to 6-5-3 overall and 4-2-1 in PacWest play, keeping the Sharks competitive in the conference standings. The team said the lightning-fast opener lifted the whole squad, and the two goals just before halftime completely disrupted the visitors' game plan. The Sharks stay home for their next matches as they push for a better conference finish and a postseason berth in the second half of the season.
