Jayson Tatum finished with 36 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists, scoring 25 in the second half and 7 of the team's final 8 points to hold off New York's comeback. The Knicks cut the margin to three late in the fourth quarter, with Josh Hart's three-pointer making it 99-96; Tatum answered with a 19-foot jumper to make it 101-98 with 1:11 remaining and seal the win. Paul George and Neemias Queta scored 15 points apiece for Boston; for New York, Karl-Anthony Towns had 22 points and reserve Miles McBride hit 6 of 8 three-pointers for 20. The Knicks have opened the season with two straight losses, a rough start for the defending champions; the Celtics bounced back quickly from an opening-night defeat and host the Bulls at home on the 26th.
