Boston Chinatown Holds Fall Community Cleanup on October 24; State Treasurer Goldberg Joins at Chinatown Gate Park
At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, Massachusetts State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg will come to Chinatown Gate Park (the Chinatown section of the Rose Kennedy Greenway) in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, to take part in the Chinatown Fall Community Cleanup. According to the State House News Service schedule for October 24, the cleanup is among the day's community events in the Boston area, with the treasurer joining residents and volunteers to tidy the public spaces around the Chinatown Gate. The Chinatown Gate is a neighborhood landmark and a key node of the Greenway park system, surrounded by restaurants, shops and homes; with autumn leaves falling and visitor numbers rising, keeping the public areas clean matters all the more. The Chinatown community organizes similar volunteer cleanups every spring and fall — a way to beautify the neighborhood and to bring neighbors together. For Chinatown residents, the presence of a state official is a sign that the community's affairs are being taken seriously.
