Austin Moonflower Multicultural Festival Set for October 24 at the Carver Museum, Featuring Chinese Traditional Song and Dance
From 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, the 2026 Moonflower Multicultural Heritage Festival will be held at the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center in Austin, Travis County, Texas, at 1165 Angelina Street; tickets are $15 and the event is family-friendly. This year's theme is promoting community engagement through Chinese traditional dance, music, folk arts and heritage education, with Chinese dance and music performances, hands-on folk-art activities, cultural exhibitions, food and educational programming. Organizers say the festival celebrates Chinese cultural heritage while bringing Chinese and Asian traditions together with African American and other cultural voices in the historic Carver Museum, so visitors of different backgrounds can learn each other's stories in one space. Austin's Chinese community has sustained events such as Chinese cultural festivals through organizations like the Austin Chinese-American Network (ACAN) in recent years, and the Moonflower Festival is another gathering in that line. For Austin's Chinese families, the October 24 festival and the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas the same weekend offer a quiet-and-lively pair of weekend options.
