Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce Hosts Retirement Tribute Dinner for Congressman Davis on October 24 at New Furama
From 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, in Cook County, Illinois, hosts a retirement tribute dinner honoring longtime U.S. Representative Danny Davis at New Furama Restaurant, 2828 S. Wentworth Avenue in Chinatown. The seated dinner, organized by the chamber, is priced at $97.68. Davis has long represented a district that includes Chicago's Chinatown and has close ties to the community; by holding the dinner at a Chinatown restaurant, the chamber is both thanking the congressman and bringing together community merchants and leaders. For Chicago's Chinese community, a change in its congressional representation bears directly on the district's voice in Congress, and the retirement dinner is both a farewell and a starting point for building ties with the next representative.
