The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Denver Nuggets 96-84 on October 22 at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, improving to 2-0 while Denver dropped its season opener. Oklahoma City trailed 27-24 after the first quarter and 48-44 at halftime, then won the third quarter 26-16 and the fourth 26-20 to close out the comeback.
Aaron Gordon led Denver with 20 points. Nikola Jokic shot 5-for-19 from the field and finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Jamal Murray went 2-for-11 for six points with 10 rebounds, and DeMar DeRozan added 13 points off the bench.
Oklahoma City, an NBA finalist last season, opens the new campaign with two straight wins. Denver, beaten in its opener, goes in search of its first win of the season in the games ahead.
