Baltimore Police Shoot Armed Man Who Pointed Gun at Officers; Man in Critical Condition, Ballot Box Unrelated
BALTIMORE — Baltimore police shot a man during a routine patrol at noon on October 22, leaving him in critical condition; a semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene. According to the Baltimore Banner, citing a police press briefing, at about 12:16 p.m.
local time on Thursday, officers patrolling the 3900 block of Erdman Avenue stopped a man who fled, then turned and pointed a gun at the officers, who opened fire. It is unclear whether the man fired; the officers were unhurt.
Dozens of officers sealed off the Erdman Shopping Center parking lot afterward. A ballot box was found inside a bullet-riddled white Toyota; investigators determined a contractor was collecting ballots from a nearby polling place at 3801 Erdman, unrelated to the shooting.
