Boston Gang Member Sentenced to 20 Years for Racketeering Role That Included a 2020 Murder

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts announced on October 23 that Boston-area man Takari Elliott has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in the violent Boston gang Cameron Street, including his participation in a 2020 murder.

Elliott, 34, of Boston, also known as "T-Paper," was sentenced on October 20 by U.S. District Judge Julia Kobick to 20 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release. In February 2026, Elliott pleaded guilty to conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise involving murder. Judge Kobick also sentenced him to two years in prison for violating the supervised release from a prior federal drug trafficking conviction, to run concurrently. Elliott was among 22 defendants charged in May 2023.

Prosecutors identified Elliott as a member of Cameron Street, a violent gang based largely in the Dorchester section of Boston whose members use firearms against rivals, protect narcotics and drug proceeds, and promote the gang through tattoos, clothing and social media videos celebrating violent crimes.

The central conduct occurred in October 2020, when Elliott admitted participating in the murder of Manuel Duarte, known as "Brava." Throughout that day, Elliott communicated with Duarte over Snapchat, urging him to meet at an address in Brockton for a drug deal. Another gang member, now deceased, rented a car in Boston and drove to Brockton, picked up Elliott, and met Duarte at a home, where a fellow member emerged from the backyard and shot Duarte 10 times, killing him. Evidence showed Elliott and his fellow member were paid $60,000 for the murder and split the proceeds. At the time, Elliott was on supervised release from his prior drug conviction.

His gang-related conduct dated back to January 2011, when he was arrested with other members in a car near Cameron Street in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and masks; he was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison for that offense.

U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the sentence together with officials from the ATF, the DEA and the Boston Police Department. The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher J. Pohl and Brian A. Fogerty, was part of the Homeland Security Task Force initiative.
