Buttigieg Endorses Bodnar in Montana Senate Race
Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has endorsed Seth Bodnar in Montana's U.S. Senate race, ABC News reported on October 23.
The seat is being vacated by Senator Steve Daines. Bodnar is running as an independent rather than seeking the Democratic nomination; the Democratic nominee is Alani Bankhead, and Republican Kurt Alme is also in the race. Buttigieg's decision to back the independent over his own party's nominee drew attention in state political circles.
In his endorsement, Buttigieg praised Bodnar's military and education background and said he could work across party lines for Montana. The seat will be decided in the 2026 midterm elections.
