Asian American Voters Rally in Houston's Chinatown for Daniel Lee's State Representative Bid
A group of enthusiastic Asian American voters gathered in Houston's Chinatown on the evening of October 21 to rally for attorney Daniel Lee's run for Texas state representative, the Southern Chinese Daily News reported.
Lee has practiced law for more than a decade. He serves as legal adviser to the Southern Chinese Daily News and has long hosted a television program answering viewers' legal questions, making him a familiar face in the community.
Lee is running in a district near Sugar Land in Fort Bend County, home to large Asian and Latino populations and a major center of Asian American voters; Fort Bend County Judge KP George is also Asian American.
In an editorial supporting Lee, the Southern Chinese Daily News urged voters to cast ballots soon — noting that a polling place sits in Chinatown at the Chinese Civic Center — and called for support for Asian American candidates so they can enter politics and serve the community. With the November 3 midterm elections in their final stretch, campaign events in Houston's Asian American community have been unfolding in quick succession.
