UK Prime Minister Meets Sultan of Oman at Downing Street, Agreeing to Keep Strait of Hormuz Open
LONDON — The UK prime minister met the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, at Downing Street on October 21, the British government said. The two leaders reaffirmed the close relationship between the UK and Oman and discussed trade generating jobs in both countries. The prime minister thanked Oman for its work to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and both agreed to keep the strait open to ease pressure on global supply chains. They also agreed to strengthen defence and security cooperation. Oman sits on the southern shore of the Strait of Hormuz, the key chokepoint for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
