There is a new development in the death of Australian model Sahara Ray. The Daily Mail reported on Monday, citing an insider, that Ray overdosed on fentanyl on Friday, was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital and placed on life support, and that her family made the decision to take her off life support on Sunday; she died surrounded by loved ones at 34. Page Six and other outlets followed up on the report. The Los Angeles County medical examiner has not released an official cause of death, and it is not known whether the reported overdose was accidental or deliberate.
In GSM's first report on October 19, Ray's family told TMZ she had died in hospital on Sunday night. Her mother, Gretchen Bach, told the Daily Mail in a statement: 'Sahara was an incredibly passionate and kind young woman who loved her family, fashion, her daughter Snow, and surfing. We're feeling the love that is pouring in from her cherished friends, fans and the many communities that she was part of around the world.' Her friend Sabrina Zada also paid tribute on social media on Monday, writing that Ray was 'bigger than the whole sky.'
Ray gave birth to her daughter, Snow, in January. She drew wide attention in 2016 when she was photographed vacationing in Hawaii with singer Justin Bieber, and in 2024 she spoke publicly about developing Guillain-Barré syndrome after a car crash, which left her temporarily unable to walk.
