Psychological Thriller 'Sender' Has Its New York Premiere at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival
Sender, a psychological thriller directed by Russell Goldman, had its New York premiere on October 19 at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, with the director present for a question-and-answer session after the screening. The film stars Britt Lower as Julia.
The story follows Julia, who has lost her job and is in recovery for alcoholism, as she moves into a new apartment and begins receiving packages she did not order. The deliveries pile up — cymbals, protein powder, a blender like the one she once used at parties — some of them tied to her past, others with no clear explanation. The film uses the stream of unwanted parcels to frame its portrait of a woman under the twin pressures of job loss and recovery.
The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival is one of New York's genre-focused film festivals, and the premiere screening was part of this year's program of horror and thriller titles.
