Escondido Home Fire Contained in About 20 Minutes; Working Smoke Alarms Wake Residents
A fire broke out shortly after midnight on Oct. 19 at a home in Escondido, a city in San Diego County, California, and the residents escaped safely after working smoke alarms alerted them, the Escondido Fire Department said in an Oct. 19 release. The North Comm Communications Center received the report at about 12:02 a.m. for a single-story, single-family home at 129 East 6th Avenue. The first engine company found smoke and fire showing from a window, and crews made an aggressive interior attack, bringing the fire under control within about 20 minutes. The fire was mainly confined to a bathroom and a bedroom area; firefighters stayed on scene for about two hours for overhaul, checking the attic and other concealed spaces. Four engines, one ladder truck, one rescue ambulance and two chief officers responded. The cause remains under investigation.
