Brian Schottenheimer
Losing Streak, Safe Seat: Cowboys Management Publicly Backs Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer
The Dallas Cowboys of Dallas County, Texas, have lost four of their first six games this season, but management continues to firmly back head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Speaking Monday on Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan, executive vice president Stephen Jones said: "Absolutely. There's not any question in Jerry's and my mind. He has the team. There's no question they want to go out there and execute and make things happen. We feel really good about our coaching staff. We just have to continue to evolve and get to a point where we can win these football games." The Cowboys were coming off a 23-13 road loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, in which they trailed 17-0 at halftime, gained just 107 total yards in the first half, and never cut the margin below 10 points. Schottenheimer is in his second season; last year the team went 7-9-1 and missed the playoffs. This season the split is stark: Dallas ranks 13th in total offense (343.2 yards per game) and 11th in scoring (25.2 points per game), but 30th in total defense (382.5 yards allowed per game) and 25th in scoring defense (26.5 points per game). The Cowboys go on the road again next Monday against the Philadelphia Eagles, who announced on October 19 that quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the season due to blood clots in his lungs.
