LOS ANGELES — Comedian Jon Stewart will continue hosting Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' on Monday nights and serving as an executive producer through December 2028, Skydance Television and Comedy Central announced on October 19, according to Reuters. The extension resolves speculation about Stewart's future as his contract approached its December expiration and keeps him in the host's chair through the November 2028 presidential election. Stewart, 63, hosted the satirical newscast from 1999 to 2015 and returned in 2024 as a once-a-week host; correspondents including Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper and Michael Kosta rotate as hosts Tuesday through Thursday. 'Jon Stewart is a generational talent and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central,' said George Cheeks, co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance TV. Comedy Central said the program won two Emmy Awards in 2026 and recorded its highest third-quarter viewership among total viewers in eight years. The show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with episodes streaming the next day on Paramount+.
