Alaska Airlines to Resume San José–Paine Field Nonstop Service in April 2027 With Two Daily Flights After Six-Year Hiatus
SAN JOSE, Calif. — San Jose is a city in Santa Clara County, California. Alaska Airlines is bringing back nonstop service between San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) and Paine Field Airport (PAE) in the Seattle area, with two daily flights starting in April 2027, San José Mineta International Airport announced in an official news release on October 5.
The restored service returns to SJC after a six-year hiatus and will be operated by Horizon Air, with flights departing throughout the day. Tickets are available for purchase through Alaska Airlines. The airport said the route gives Silicon Valley travelers additional options for reaching the Seattle area and expands nonstop connectivity between the Bay Area and the north Puget Sound region for business and leisure travelers.
'We're thrilled to see Alaska Airlines increasing its operations at SJC, one of the most reliable airports in the nation,' said San José Mayor Matt Mahan. 'This service will give San José residents more options to visit family, conduct business and explore the Pacific Northwest, while also bringing more visitors to the Capital of Silicon Valley.' City Manager Jennifer Maguire said she was happy to welcome back the service, and SJC Director of Aviation Mookie Patel said nonstop connections between San José and the Seattle area provide passengers with the flexibility and choice they have come to expect from SJC.
Paine Field serves the Everett area north of Seattle. SJC, a self-supporting enterprise owned and operated by the City of San José and located minutes from downtown, currently offers nonstop service to more than 40 domestic and international destinations and was rated California's top-performing airport for on-time departures by Cirium in 2024 and 2025. According to an economic impact study cited by the airport, SJC supports more than 19,000 jobs throughout Santa Clara County and generates approximately $4.3 billion in annual economic activity.
