As Southern California's rainy season approaches, early fall is a practical time for a basic vehicle check. Inspect tire tread depth and pressure, since worn tread sharply reduces grip on wet roads. Replace wiper blades that streak or chatter before the first rain, and have a load test done on batteries older than three years to avoid a no-start morning.
Also worth checking: headlights and brake lights, coolant and brake fluid levels, and spare tire pressure. In wet weather, increase following distance, avoid hard braking and slow down through standing water. This is general maintenance guidance; follow your owner's manual and a qualified technician's advice.
