The City of Lomita, in Los Angeles County, California, has published its October 19 newsletter. This year's State of the City Address is set for Thursday, November 12, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Tom Rico Center / Marc Fosnaugh Gym, 24428 Eshelman Ave, with lunch tickets available via lomitachamber.org and sponsorships due October 31. Los Angeles County crews are installing solar panel shade structures in the City Hall parking lot, with parts of the lot closed and completion expected this winter. The newsletter also lists a Halloween Spooktacular at Lomita Park on October 24, a "Curse of the Red Caboose" event at the Lomita Railroad Museum on October 31, the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back on October 24 at Sam's Club in Torrance, and a free household hazardous and e-waste collection in Carson on October 31.
