SpaceX Q3 Earnings Preview: Street Expects $0.14 EPS on About $12.9 Billion in Revenue; Evercore Lifts Target to $275
SpaceX (Nasdaq: SPCX) will report third-quarter results on Tuesday (October 20) after the closing bell, and will host a webcast at 4:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. CT) the same day. According to TipRanks, Wall Street expects earnings of $0.14 per share on revenue of about $12.89 billion, up roughly 65 percent year over year; a survey by LSEG put expected revenue at $12.738 billion with EPS of $0.14. SPCX closed Friday at $146.03.
The comparison base is the second quarter, when SpaceX posted revenue of $7.81 billion and a loss of $0.09 per share, and the stock fell 13.61 percent after that report. Pivotal Research analyst Jeffrey Wlodarczak models above consensus — third-quarter revenue of $13.2 billion and EPS of $0.21 — after adding Starlink Mobile to his model; he also raised his price target to $230 from $220 and reiterated a Buy rating.
Analysts have been raising targets ahead of the print. On October 16, Evercore ISI analyst Kutgun Maral raised his price target to $275 from $230 and maintained an Outperform rating, expecting SpaceX to beat the Street's third-quarter revenue estimate and to exit the year at an annualized revenue run rate of about $104 billion, above the company's $100 billion goal. He also expects compute capacity to reach roughly 2.3 gigawatts by year-end, above the consensus 2.2 gigawatts. Maral said skeptics dismiss SpaceX as a long-term project closer to science fiction than a financial model, but the tangible evidence suggests it is much closer to reality than the market thinks.
