U.S. Stock Futures Rebound Sunday Night With Nasdaq Futures Up 1%; Brent Falls 1.7% to $108.02 and Bitcoin Gains 1.4%
U.S. stock futures rose Sunday night after last week's SI selloff, according to a timestamped snapshot from financial outlet AIStockWire: as of 9:50 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nasdaq 100 futures were up 1% at 29,693.75, S&P 500 futures were up 0.6% at 7,749.50, and Dow futures were up 160 points, or 0.3%, at 52,374.
Last week, the Nasdaq Composite fell 4.48%, its worst week since late June, and closed Friday at 26,140.03. The S&P 500 fell 1.95% on the week, while the Dow gained 0.67%. Chip stocks were among the hardest hit: the PHLX Semiconductor Index fell for an eighth straight session on Friday, its longest losing streak since October 2008, and closed at 11,137.29. The Cboe Volatility Index closed Friday at 19.99, up from 15.21 on Monday, October 12.
In Monday's Asian session, Brent crude fell 1.7% to $108.02 a barrel after U.S. President Donald Trump waived sanctions and tariffs on Russia, opening the way for more Russian fuel exports, Reuters reported. Bitcoin gained 1.4% to $82,067.66 and ether rose 3.0% to $2,420.22. The dollar was firmer, while the euro weakened amid unrest in France. Federal funds futures priced an 84% probability that the Federal Reserve will hold rates steady at its October 28 meeting, according to the CME FedWatch tool cited by Reuters.
