跟进：鸡肉卷大肠杆菌疫情病例升至50例，首起诉讼点名 Trader Joe's 龙蒿鸡肉沙拉卷

Follow-Up: Chicken Wrap E. coli Outbreak Grows to 50 Cases; First Lawsuit Names Trader Joe's Tarragon Chicken Salad Wraps

LOS ANGELES — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's outbreak investigation table, updated October 15, now lists 50 illnesses in the E. coli O157:H7 outbreak linked to suspected ready-to-eat, multi-ingredient chicken wraps, up from 38; the file, opened September 23 with 25 cases, is shared between the FDA (reference 1421) and the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS 2026-04). Neither agency has named a brand, manufacturer, retailer or any state with cases, and the recall column on the table remains blank.

The same day, food-safety law firm Marler Clark filed the outbreak's first lawsuit, Gottlieb and Bright v. Trader Joe's Company, No. 2:26-cv-12017, in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The complaint alleges that Gayle Gottlieb of Pembroke, North Carolina, and Meaghan Egan Bright of Somerville, Massachusetts, were hospitalized after eating Trader Joe's Tarragon Chicken Salad Wraps bought on August 23 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and on August 24 in Allston, Massachusetts, that laboratory testing confirmed Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O157:H7 infections, and that their local health departments tied them to the multistate outbreak. The complaint's contents are the plaintiffs' allegations; Trader Joe's had not publicly responded in the reports.

The FDA says the wraps were proactively removed from the market before the link to the outbreak was confirmed and are past their shelf life, which is why no recall is listed. Traceback, on-site inspection and sampling are ongoing, and the USDA is checking whether the chicken in the wraps went into other products.
