英媒：英国对中国电动车加征关税持开放态度 以换取加入欧盟「欧洲制造」计划

UK Open to Tariffs on Chinese EVs to Join EU 'Made in Europe' Scheme, Guardian Reports
The British government has left open the possibility of imposing tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles as part of the European Union's "Made in Europe" package, according to The Guardian. After France dropped its objections to the UK's participation, a Franco-German proposal would make London's accession conditional on dynamic alignment with the EU's trade defence measures, including the tariffs the bloc introduced on Chinese electric vehicles in 2024.
The rules aim to curb subsidised imports from China by granting advantages to products manufactured within the EU. The UK and Norway fear being disadvantaged if excluded. The Chinese Embassy in London said it "firmly opposes any discriminatory practices involving tariff increases or restrictive measures against Chinese products," adding that protectionism contradicts WTO rules.
A Downing Street spokesperson said it was premature to speculate on the terms of any deal, emphasising that the UK pursues its own trade policy and keeps all tariffs under review. EU lawmakers plan to finalise the Industrial Accelerator Act by the end of this year or in early 2027. (GSM, based on The Guardian reporting)
