Sixth Academy Museum Gala Held Tonight in Los Angeles: Taylor Swift to Perform, Theron Among Three Honorees
The sixth Academy Museum Gala takes place on the evening of October 17 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. This year's gala honors three film figures: Charlize Theron receives the Icon Award, Colman Domingo the Vantage Award, and John Carpenter the Luminary Award. Singer Taylor Swift performs as the evening's special musical guest.
Announcing the lineup on October 8, museum director Amy Homma said, "Taylor is an extraordinary talent whose work resonates around the world." Rolex serves as the gala's presenting partner, and proceeds from the evening support the museum's exhibitions, education, and screening programs.
First held after the museum opened in 2021, the Academy Museum Gala has become a fixture of Hollywood's fall calendar, honoring actors, directors, and film musicians. Located at Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, the museum — comprising the historic Saban Building and the spherical Sphere building — is the largest museum in the United States devoted to filmmaking.
