ALTA Good Deeds Foundation Awards $120,000 to 20 Community Nonprofits Across the U.S.

Washington — The ALTA Good Deeds Foundation announced on October 15 that it is awarding $120,000 in grants to 20 nonprofit organizations across the United States, with each organization receiving $6,000. The foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by the American Land Title Association (ALTA), the national trade association of the title insurance industry. The recipients were announced on October 14 during ALTA ONE, the association's annual conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The grants support charities nominated by ALTA members that work at the local level. The 20 recipients are spread across states including Virginia, Idaho, Georgia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Alabama, Texas, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas and Michigan. They include Court Appointed Special Advocates of Paulding County in Dallas, Georgia; the JC7 Foundation in Austin, Texas; the Will Erwin Headache Research Foundation in Houston, Texas; Smart Bellies in Frisco, Colorado; and The Next Step Homeless Services in Fort Smith, Arkansas, working in fields from child advocacy and food assistance to homeless services and medical research.

Steve Day, the foundation's board chair and a past president of ALTA, said the foundation is built around the idea that local organizations can have an extraordinary impact when they have the resources and support to carry out their missions. ALTA chief executive Chris Morton said the industry's members help protect homebuyers, homeowners and property rights every day, and that the grants are another way the title industry strengthens the communities it serves.

Since its founding in 2020, the foundation says it has awarded more than $1.6 million in grants to nonprofit organizations in 48 states and the District of Columbia, supporting causes that strengthen families, promote housing stability and enrich communities. ALTA, founded in 1907, represents more than 17,000 title insurance companies across the nation, over 90 percent of them small businesses.
