纽约——卡米尔与亨利·德雷福斯基金会（The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation）10月15日经Business Wire宣布设立「变革性研究计划」（Program for Transformative Research），资助化学科学领域敢于挑战既有范式的高风险研究，对象为正值事业中期的高校教师。

Dreyfus Foundation Launches Transformative Research Program: Eight $600,000 Grants and a $1.5 Million Award
NEW YORK — The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation announced on October 15, via Business Wire, the establishment of the Program for Transformative Research, a new initiative supporting bold, high-risk research in the chemical sciences by accomplished mid-career faculty.
The program's first phase will provide eight Transformative Research Development Grants of $600,000 each, disbursed in three annual installments of $200,000. In the final year of the development grants, the foundation will evaluate the projects and select one for an additional Transformative Research Award of $1.5 million. Foundation president H. Scott Walter said the program aims to give mid-career scientists the opportunity to pursue ideas that could blossom into new fields of research or ultimately improve the human condition. Milan Mrksich of Northwestern University, chair of the foundation's Scientific Affairs Committee, said transformative discoveries often begin with ideas that are difficult to pursue through conventional funding.
Applicants must be within 15 years following promotion to tenure and based at a U.S. academic institution that grants a bachelor's or higher degree in the chemical sciences; only one proposal per institution per cycle will be accepted. Applications include a five-page project essay, a three-year plan, an institutional letter of support and a CV, with no detailed budget or preliminary data required. The foundation was established in 1946 by chemist and inventor Camille Dreyfus as a memorial to his brother Henry, to advance the science of chemistry, chemical engineering and related sciences.
