[Video] JENNIE Sings a New Song for Netflix Animated Film Steps; Film and Soundtrack Arrive November 20
Netflix released the official trailer and key art for its animated musical fantasy comedy Steps on October 15, confirming the film will begin streaming on November 20, with the soundtrack album arriving the same day. BLACKPINK's JENNIE performs a new song, Someone to Hold, which can be previewed in the trailer. In a statement shared by Netflix, she said it is her first song for an animated film and that she enjoyed taking part.
Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, Steps retells the Cinderella story from the stepsisters' side: Lilith (voiced by Ali Wong) steals the Fairy Godmother's wand (Bette Midler) and, with her sister Margot (Stephanie Hsu), disrupts the Royal Ball, opening the way for the villainous Priscilla (Nikki Glaser) to seize the throne. Lilith must then team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) to set things right. Daniel Radcliffe, Young Mazino and Peter Dinklage also voice roles.
The soundtrack features four original songs written and produced by Justin Tranter, with vocals from Amanda Seyfried, Rose Gray and EMEI, plus a score by Kris Bowers. The film is produced by Amy Poehler's Paper Kite Productions with Jane Hartwell and Kim Lessing, and is rated PG.
