Scarlett Johansson Does Double Duty at London Film Festival With Paper Tiger Premiere Alongside Adam Driver
Scarlett Johansson had a marathon Saturday at the London Film Festival — she walked the red carpet in the morning for the premiere of her animated film Ray Gunn, then slipped into a red Prada gown in the evening to premiere the crime drama Paper Tiger alongside co-star Adam Driver and director James Gray, commanding the spotlight twice in one day.
Paper Tiger is a deeply felt passion project for director James Gray. The film follows two brothers who become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true, drawing them into the dangerous world of the Russian mafia as family bonds begin to fray with life-altering consequences. Miles Teller also stars in the crime thriller. The film had its world premiere at Cannes and screened at the New York Film Festival, with London marking a key stop on its European rollout.
Distributor Neon has set the release plan: Paper Tiger opens in limited release on November 13, followed by a nationwide expansion on November 20. Buzz has been building since Cannes, with Gray's signature brooding visual style and the powerhouse pairing of Johansson and Driver marking it as a title to watch this awards season.
For Johansson, 2026 has been a prolific year. Spanning voice work in the animated Ray Gunn to leading a gritty crime drama in Paper Tiger, the Oscar-nominated actress continues to demonstrate remarkable range. Her reunion with Driver — their sparring in Marriage Story remains legendary — has fans eager to see their chemistry ignite again on screen.
The London Film Festival has long served as a launching pad for awards-season contenders, and Paper Tiger's high-profile bow there signals the studio's confidence. As the November release approaches, whether this tale of brotherhood and mob intrigue can carve out a place in the year-end awards race is well worth watching.
