Flu Season Nears: CDC Urges Fall Flu Shots, With Priority for Seniors and People With Chronic Conditions
As fall deepens, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reminding the public to get this season's flu shot, especially adults 65 and older, people with chronic conditions, pregnant women and caregivers of young children. Most pharmacies and clinics are now offering vaccinations, and many insurance plans cover the flu shot — check with your pharmacy and plan for details. GSM's practical reminders: tell medical staff about egg or other allergies before vaccination; the vaccine cannot treat an existing flu infection, so seek care promptly for high fever or difficulty breathing; and avoid unverified 'miracle cures' from unknown sellers.
